Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Community Building
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment for campers and staff.
- Serve as a role model and culture-setter within the camp community.
Camper & Staff Recruitment & Supervision
- Lead year-round recruitment and retention strategies that include recruitment of employees as well as campers.
- Cultivate strong relationships with campers, families, staff, and community partners.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor summer staff.
- Create a positive, growth-oriented staff culture.
Program Development & Implementation
- Design and oversee engaging, age-appropriate, values-based programs.
- Ensure a diverse range of high-quality experiences aligned with Camp Daggett’s mission.
Camp Operations
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the summer camp.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing standards.
Budget & Financial Oversight
- Develop and manage the camp budget in collaboration with the CEO.
- Monitor expenses and ensure responsible resource use.
Year-Round Programs
- Plan and implement Family Camps and out-of-school time sessions.
- Maintain engagement with Camp families and alumni throughout the year.
Strategic Planning & Growth
- Contribute to the long-term vision and expansion of Camp Daggett.
- Lead efforts to innovate and improve Camp programs and facilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in camp leadership or related youth programming.
- Proven success in staff supervision, program development, and operations management, with experience of managing approximately 30 direct reports as well as supporting and training these direct reports in managing their respective employees.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Experience managing budgets and financial planning.
- Ability to work in a team environment and to collaborate effectively with several different stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and problem solving skills.
- Must have the ability to positively manage simultaneous tasks, work under time constraints, and work long hours.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with Google applications; experience with CampBrain preferred.
